Sky

As I’ve mentioned before, I do enjoy being around trees…I just prefer them in smaller quantities than most people. A solitary tree in the middle of a big empty space is much more appealing than a dense and endless forest. The sky is my first love, and an abundance of trees obstructs my view of the sky, making me feel boxed in.

That’s how I feel now, with summer dragging on and too many months having passed since I was last on the road. Here at home, in the center of this city, I can’t see the rising Sun, or the setting Sun, and I only see the Moon when it’s high in the sky.

Happily, road trip season is approaching, and around the time of the Harvest Moon, I’ll be back in the land of the big sky and the big horizon and the occasional solitary tree. I’m looking forward to seeing my friends in the Mountain Time Zone, exploring some new remote roads and campsites, and making a return visit to a few of my favorite wide-open spaces, such as these…

Also, it’s been too long since I’ve head the song of the coyotes. Can’t wait.
